Publication Opportunities

Publication Opportunities

Special issue related to this conference in the journal Children.
Children (ISSN 2227-9067) is an international open access journal of pediatrics published quarterly online by MDPI. The publication focuses on sharing clinical, epidemiological, translational and basic science research relevant to children’s health.

Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The value of licensed and appropriately labeled medicines for children and adults is increasingly a focus of public awareness. This is, for a large part, the result of US and EU legislation on paediatric and orphan diseases. However, paediatric clinical practice has changed less than expected, and the initial enthusiasm has been replaced by a more realistic assessment. Breakthrough therapeutic innovations have been introduced in the last decades, e.g. for cystic fibrosis, metabolic diseases or hormonal defects. However, none of these were triggered by paediatric legislation. The aim of this special issue is to provide an update on both state-of-the-art methodology and operational challenges in research & development of paediatric and rare diseases, in order to re-evaluate what is needed for more progress in the development of treatments for both paediatric and rare diseases.

We welcome original research, review, opinion papers, editorials, or short communications on the following topics: paediatric legislation, commercial drug development, development of orphan and paediatric drugs, paediatric clinical research, developmental pharmacology, neonatal pharmacology, paediatric pharmacology, neonatal medicine, neonatal infectious diseases, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and neonatal clinical trials.

Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. Papers will be published continuously (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are refereed through a peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Children is an international peer-reviewed Open Access quarterly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. For the first couple of issues the Article Processing Charge (APC) will be waived for well-prepared manuscripts. English correction and/or formatting fees of 250 CHF (Swiss Francs) will be charged in certain cases for those articles accepted for publication that require extensive additional formatting and/or English corrections.

n Basics

1. MDPI organizes and runs the conference website for WSF2018 (see https://sciforum.net/conference/wsf-6 )

2. MDPI advertises WSF2018 internationally and organizes a call for submission for WSF2018 and the World Sustainability Award/Emerging Sustainability Leader Award

3. MDPI provides US$ 10 000 start-up funding

4. The conference will have four WSF2018 chairs: Max Bergman and three Chinese local chair (Xia, Xue, and a high-ranking official from the city of Cangzhou)

5. The conference will have approximately seven co-chairs, who are academics representing the different sustainability areas (e.g. food, energy, etc.). They make sure that their specialty area is adequately represented.

6. UIBE and the local organizers will find two patrons that are well-known at least in China and have important functions; they will open day 1 and day 2 of WSF2018

7. Max Bergman and MDPI are responsible for the content and layout of the conference program and book of abstracts

8. WSF2018 will need one main hall and five parallel panel rooms of approximately 50 persons capacity

9. UIBE/Cangzhou needs to provide one permanent conference person who speaks English and who can be reached for administrative and organizational issues

10.We need clarification fairly early about transport from Beijing (where most international scholars will arrive) and Tianjin to the conference venue (including availability of and buying of train tickets); accommodation assistance in Beijing and Cangzhou; and tourism assistance in Beijing and Cangzhou

11.We should get a formal agreement from Cangzhou’s industry to be allowed to visit (e.g. car manufacturers, steel/refinery industries, energy). This would make the conference attractive to international business and scholars.

12.No conference-relevant programme decision can be made without the agreement of all Chairs;

General Information About Visas for China

A visa is a travel document issued by authorized government agencies to foreign citizens applying to enter, exit from or transit through the host country's territory based on the host country's laws and regulations. In accordance with international law and practice, any sovereign state is entitled to determine whether or not to allow a foreign citizen to enter or exit from its territory, and whether to issue a visa, decline a visa application or to cancel an issued visa in accordance with its national laws.

Chinese embassies, consulates and other institutions stationed abroad entrusted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China are visa-issuing authorities responsible for issuance of entry visas to foreigner citizens abroad, and are entitled to determine the type, number of entries, validity and duration of each stay of a visa to be issued, or to decline a visa application or revoke an issued visa, in accordance with Chinese laws and regulations. According to Chinese law, a foreign citizen may be refused entry into China even if he/she has a valid Chinese visa.

Foreign citizens must obtain a visa before entry into China, with the exception of visa-free entry based on relevant agreements or regulations. Foreign citizens that fall into categories of Article 22 of the Exit and Entry Law of the People's Republic of China are qualified to apply for port visas from visa-issuing authorities entrusted by the Ministry of Public Security at a port of entry approved to issue port visas by the State Council.

For visit to Hong Kong SAR or Macao SAR, citizens from some countries/territories are exempted from visas for short term visit. Otherwise an entry visa must be obtained as required by the Government of HKSAR or Macao SAR. Visa applications must be made separately if the traveler wishes visit both HKSAR/Macao SAR and mainland China.

Please feel free to download our Viruses 2018 poster

An international scientific conference sponsored by the journal Viruses.

For sponsorship and exhibition opportunities please take a look at our brochure for Viruses 2018.

Welcome from the Conference Chair

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the conference “Viruses 2018: Breakthroughs in Viral Replication” to be held in Barcelona, Spain 7-9, February, 2018. The importance of viruses to human health has never been more apparent, and significant progress is being made in understanding virus replication, structure, transmission, pathogenesis, and antiviral immunity. This conference will bring together leading virologists from around the world to share their recent findings. Meeting participants will have the opportunity to present posters and short talks on their work and discuss their research in a relaxed, collegial environment.

The conference is sponsored by MDPI, the publisher of the open-access journal Viruses and follows the very successful meeting “Viruses 2016: At the Forefront of Virus-Host Interactions” held in Jan 2016 in Basel, Switzerland.

I very much look forward to seeing you at this exciting meeting in Barcelona.
