Prof. Dr. Marival Bermejo

Information

Marival Bermejo is currently a Full Professor at the University Miguel Hernández of Elche-Alicante (Spain). She earned her B.Pharm and Ph.D degrees at the University of Valencia under the supervision of Prof. Plá-Delfina with a grant from the Spanish Government. She obtained a position at the University of Valencia as Assistant Professor in 1993 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 1998. In 2008, she was appointed at University Miguel Hernández to consolidate the Area of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology in the Department of Engineering. She performed two post-doctoral research stages at the Institute of Topology and System Dynamics in Paris VII University, collaborating with Prof. Christiane Mercier, and at the University of Michigan, working with Prof. Gordon Amidon, with a Fulbright scholarship. Dr. Bermejo's research is centered on intestinal and blood–brain barrier absorption. Her last research projects have been focused on the validation of in vivo and in vitro models for oral permeability predictions and their application to the biopharmaceutical development of new drugs. She is external assessor of the Spanish Agency of Medicines (AEMPS) and EMA (European Medicines Agency). Dr Bermejo has been nominated as a foreign member of the Chilean Academy of Sciences.
