Dr. Luca Sancineto

Information

+1

Luca Sancineto is associate professor in Organic Chemistry at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Perugia. He was among the first to demonstrate that Se-containing molecules could exert potent and selective anti-HIV activity, with experience in the development of anticancer selenorganic compounds. In 2017 he was awarded with the Polonez2 grant issued by the Polish Academy of Sciences, a call for researchers outside Poland with a success rate from 3 calls of 10%. He spent 2 years at the Centre of Molecular and Macromolecular Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Lodz, where he studied the interaction between selenium containing compounds and biologically relevant metals, as well as developing new synthetic procedures and pharmacologically active compounds. In 2018 he was awarded the national scientific habilitation as associate professor in both Organic and Medicinal Chemistry. Since 11/2019 he has been fixed-term researcher (RTD L.240/2010 lett b) in Organic Chemistry at the University of Perugia. In November 2022 he became associate professor in Organic Chemistry at the same university. He has delivered more than 20 invited communications to congresses, symposia and Universities in Italy, Poland, Morocco, Turkey, Japan and Brazil. He is the author of 65 articles, with an H index of 23 with a total of 1658 citations (Scopus)
