Prof. Gonzalo De Gonzalo

Prof. Dr. Gonzalo De Gonzalo obtained his BSc in Chemistry from the University of Oviedo in October 1998, and he joined the Bioorganic Group of the university and received his PhD in June 2003. In January 2004, he received an FICYT postdoctoral fellowship from the Principado de Asturias to work for two years at the ICRM (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, Milan, Italy). Upon returning from his postdoc, he worked at the University of Oviedo with a Juan de la Cierva Fellowship. In 2010, he was hired as a researcher at the Groningen Biomolecular Sciences and Biotechnology Institute, University of Groningen (The Netherlands). After moving back to Spain, he worked at the Pharmaceutical company Antibióticos from 2011 until 2013. In 2014, he received a Ramon and Cajal contract at the University of Seville, obtaining his position as Assistant Professor at the Organic Chemistry Department of the same university in 2019. He has performed research stages at the University of Graz (2006, 3 months), University of Stockholm (2017, 3 months), and Technical University of Delft (2018, 2 months). His research focuses on the development of biocatalytic and organocatalytic procedures for the synthesis of chiral compounds and the research on green chemistry processes.
