Information

I have spent the last three decades generally messing around with chromatin with a special focus on histones and their modifications. My research has focused on identifying novel histone modifications together with characterization of the enzymes (writers) responsible. I have a keen interest in identifying protein domains that specifically bind (readers) to modified histones. This information has been used to enable the development of small molecule inhibitors (to both writers and readers). More recently, my focus has switched to the analysis of post-transcriptional RNA modifications and the relevant enzymes. Ultimately, I hope to be able to use the knowledge gained to develop novel anti-cancer therapeutic compounds.
