Lesotho born Tebello Nyokong is a distinguished professor at Rhodes University, South Africa. She obtained a PhD from University of Western Ontario, Canada. She did post-doctoral research at the University of Notre Dame (USA, 1990). She moved to Rhodes University in 1991 where she is doing research on the applications of phthalocyanines. She is National Research Foundation A rated researcher. She has supervised 130 students and published over 830 manuscripts. She has received many awards including four honorary doctorates, African Union Kwame Nkrumah Award, UNESCO Medal for Development of Nanoscience, and L’Oreal-UNESCO award for “Women in Science”.
