Information

Shridhar has around 12 years of experience in Earth observation (EO), remote sensing (RS) and geoinformation (GI) based applications in the Earth’s cryosphere. He is currently working as a Remote Sensing Officer at the Svalbard Integrated Arctic Earth Observing System (SIOS), Longyearbyen, Norway, where he leads the EO and RS activities. He is responsible for developing EO and RS based services for a wider research community working in Svalbard as a part of developing the observing system. Before joining SIOS, he was a project scientist at the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), Goa, India, where he was involved in EO and RS activities in polar research particularly focusing on Antarctica, Himalayas, and the Arctic. He has participated in 3 summer expeditions to Antarctica and one field campaign to Svalbard to conduct calibration and validation (Cal/Val) of remote sensing products. His research has contributed several peer-reviewed research papers to the international geosciences and polar remote sensing community, and he has presented his research at numerous international conferences through oral and poster presentations.
