He received his B.Sc. degree in agriculture sciences from the University of Agriculture Sciences, Dharwad, and M.Sc. in remote sensing from the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), The Netherlands. He received his Ph.D. in natural sciences from Max Planck Institute for Meteorology/University of Hamburg, Germany. He is involved in Earth and environmental studies, specifically solving the environmental problems using space-based technologies and climate modeling. His interest areas are cross-cutting activities related to atmosphere–land surface exchange processes (surface water, energy, carbon fluxes, etc.), carbon cycling modeling, application areas in agriculture, forest and natural resources monitoring and assessment, and climate change.
