Prof. Boon-Chong Seet

Information

Boon-Chong Seet received his B.Eng, M.Eng, and Ph.D degrees from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 1999, 2001, and 2005, respectively. Upon graduation, he joined the Singapore-Massachusetts Institute of Technology Alliance (SMA) Programme as a Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore. Since 2007, he is with the Auckland University of Technology, where he is currently a full professor and heads the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (EEE). He founded and led a wireless research group in the Department for five years, before it successfully transformed into a larger School-wide Centre for Wireless and Intelligent Systems Engineering (WISE) where he served as Director. He also co-founded the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) New Zealand North (NZN) Chapter where he served as Vice-Chair for five years. In 2023, he stepped down to assume the Deputy Director role for WISE, when he stepped up to become the NZN Chapter Chair for IEEE VTS. His research activities span the fields of info-communication technologies (ICT), with a focus on sensing, computing, and communication technologies for smart systems. He is the author of around 170 publications with a Scopus H-index of 25 and Google H-index of 30. He has supervised 9 PhD and 4 ME thesis students to completion as primary supervisor.
