Claudio Santi received a Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences in 1996 under the supervision of Professor Marcello Tiecco (University of Perugia). He is currently a Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Perugia, leading the Catalysis, Synthesis, and Organic Green Chemistry (CS-OrGaniC) group. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, an Honorary Professor at Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa (Poland), and Chair of the International Scientific Network Selenium Sulfur Redox and Catalysis (SeSRedCat). His main scientific interests are related to the chemistry of organoselenium compounds in organic synthesis and biology. He also discovered PhSeZnCl and some congeners that are commonly named Santi’s reagents.
