Mr. Olukayode AlaoPolitecnico di Milano
Mr Olukayode Alao is a vibrant and passionate civil engineer with an eye for entrepreneurship, sustainable development strategies, technical engineering consulting and empowering those in need specifically focussing on the African continent. The current vector of economic, infrastructure and population growth, implies that there has to be strategic research, planning, and formulation of guidelines for improved resource management (especially in the sectors that influence climate change). There is the need to put an emphasis on in-depth research in order to design durable, sustainable engineering infrastructure and predict their performance over their service life. He is interested in understanding the dynamics of this sector as it is influential in the policy-making processes for sustainable & eco-friendly developments. He has over 5 years combined experience as a civil engineer. He is a registered member of the South African Institute of Civil Engineers (SAICE) and the Institute of Structural Engineers (IStructE). He was nominated as a Falling Walls Young Innovator in 2015 (Top 100 from around the world), and for the Paris pre-COP21 UN CFCC (Our common future under climate change) in July 2015 discussing issues on concrete and environmental sustainability for Sub-Saharan Africa. He has a BSc & MSc in Civil Engineering (University of Cape Town) and is currently undergoing a specialised Master’s in International Construction Management at the Politecnico di Milano. The fundamental understanding of research and development has driven him to strive for continuous development and motivates him to contribute solutions through strategic research to enhance decision-making.
