Madalena Pinto is a retired Professor of Organic and Medicinal Chemistry, Department of Chemistry Sciences, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Porto, Portugal. She obtained her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at the same University in 1983. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand. She was Director of FFUP, Coordinator and organizer of the first Pharmaceutical Sciences Degree of the Instituto Superior das Ciências da Saúde-Norte (CESPU), President of the Organizing Committee of the 1st National Meeting of Medicinal Chemistry of the Portuguese Society of Chemistry, Director of the 1st PhD Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at FFUP, Member of the Management Committee of the Therapeutic Chemistry Group of the Portuguese Society of Chemistry, Director of the Laboratory of Organic and Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the FFUP (1985–2018) and founder and Director of the Master Course in Pharmaceutical Chemistry of the FFUP (2013–2018). She had been the Coordinator of the Research Center CEQOFFUP-FCT- R&D 226/1996–2007 (from 1996 to 2007) and of the Research Center CEQUIMED- UP FCT I&D 4040 (2007–2014). Currently, she is the Team Leader of the Group of Natural Products and Medicinal Chemistry of the Interdisciplinary Centre Of Marine And Environmental Research-University of Porto (CIIMAR).
