Prof. Tamar Lotan

Prof. Tamar Lotan is the Head of the Cnidarian Developmental Biology and Molecular Ecology Lab a and co-founder of The Marine Biology Department, at the Leon Charney School of Marine Sciences, University of Haifa. She Holds a BSc and an MSc in biology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a PhD in genetics from the Weizmann Institute. Within the field of marine biology, her main interests are development and evolution, molecular ecology and adaption to the changing environment, parasite-host interaction, and natural injectors. In 1998, Tamar stepped into the biotech field as an entrepreneur. She founded two companies in the fields of health care and drug delivery, both based on cnidarians biology. In October 2009, she joined the Leon H. Charney School of Marine Sciences at the University of Haifa to lay the foundations of the evolving Marine Biology Department.
