Zhiming Yuan received his a B.S. degree from the Department of
Biology, College of Life Science, Hubei University, in 1984; a M.S. degree from the
Department of Biology, College of Life Science, Yunnan University, in 1987; and
a Ph.D. degree from the Department of Molecular Pathology and Genetic Engineering,
College of Biology Science, Zhongshan University, in 1999. From 2012 until now,
he has been President of the Wuhan Branch of the Chinese Academy of
Sciences and Director of the Wuhan National Biosafety Laboratory. His research
interests mainly focus on the characteristics and transmission risks of
mosquito-borne viruses; mosquito-borne viruses and vector interactions; and
the research on the prevention and control technologies of emerging viruses.
