Information

My initial research interests focused on the antibody response elicited during the Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) infection and the protection conferred in vivo by human monoclonal antibodies. Then, I worked on the synergy evaluation of anti-herpetic compounds acting on different steps of the virus life cycle, on the characterization of sera from HSV infected subjects, and on modeling HSV reactivation dynamics in a patterned human neuron-to-keratinocyte circuit reconstituted in a microfluidic device. In the last two years I focused my work on SARS-CoV-2 infection: starting from the isolation of the different viral variants of interest (VOCs) and NGS sequencing for epidemiologic surveillance, I dedicated to the characterization of entry mechanisms exploited by the virus, the evaluation of antiviral drugs against the infection, and the dissection of the immune response of COVID-19 patients and vaccinated subjects.
