Welcome to the 23rd International Electronic Conference on Synthetic Organic Chemistry

Electronic conferences on synthetic organic chemistry (ECSOC) are a series of conferences maintained through the internet since 1997, an original initiative by MDPI, and later consolidated with the contribution of the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). Nowadays it constitutes the first and oldest electronic conference in the world. It maintains its character of free participation, with contributions considered as preliminary reports on edge achievements, and registration as a distinctive standard of the world wide web open access character.

Call for Papers

Dear Colleague,

The Electronic Conferences on Synthetic Organic Chemistry (ECSOC) are a series of conferences that have been held online since 1997. Originally, it was an initiative of MDPI, and was later amalgamated with the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). It now constitutes the longest running electronic conference in the world. It maintains free participation and registration in the true spirit of open access on the World Wide Web. The conference this year will cover a wide range of aspects involved in synthetic organic chemistry. A non-exhaustive list of topics that will be considered comprises:

ECSOC-23 offers you the opportunity to participate in this international, scholarly conference without having the concern or expenditure of travel. The conference will be completely free of charge—both to “attend”, and for scholars to upload and present their latest work on the conference platform. There will be a possibility to submit selected papers to the journal Molecules (ISSN 1420-3049, Impact Factor: 3.098 (2017) ; 5-Year Impact Factor: 3.268 (2017); https://www.mdpi.com/journal/molecules).

Abstracts (in English) should be submitted by *30 October 2019* online at https://sciforum.net/conference/ecsoc-23. After the abstract is accepted by the Scientific Committee, the authors will be invited to prepare a full description of their work under the form of a PowerPoint presentation, and to upload it *before 15 November 2019* to ensure there is time for a final check.

Instructions for Authors

Submission

Submissions should be done by the authors online by registering with www.sciforum.net, and using the "New Submission" function once logged into system.

Scholars interested in participating with the conference can submit their abstract (about 200-250 words covering the areas of manuscripts for the proceedings issue) online on this website until 25 October 2019.
The Conference Committee will pre-evaluate, based on the submitted abstract, whether a contribution from the authors of the abstract will be welcome for the 23rd International Electronic Conference on Synthetic Organic Chemistry. All authors will be notified by 1 November 2019 about the acceptance of their abstract.
If the abstract is accepted for this conference, the author is asked to submit the manuscript, optionally along with a PowerPoint and/or video presentation of his/her paper (only PDF), until the submission deadline of 17 November 2019.
The conference proceedings papers and presentations will be available on https://sciforum.net/conference/ecsoc-23 for discussion and will be published in Journal Proceedings.
Participants of this conference are cordially invited to contribute with a full manuscript to our Special Issue in the journal Molecules (the submission to the journal is independent from the conference proceedings and will follow the usual process of the journal, including peer-review, APC, etc.). Papers presented at the conference will be granted a 20% discount in the Special Issue.

Manuscripts should be prepared in MS Word or any other word processor and should be converted to the PDF format before submission. The publication format will be PDF.

Presentation Slides
Authors are encouraged to prepare a presentation in PowerPoint or similar software, to be displayed online along with the Manuscript. Slides, if available, will be displayed directly in the website using Sciforum.net's proprietary slides viewer. Slides can be prepared in exactly the same way as for any traditional conference where research results can be presented. Slides should be converted to the PDF format before submission so that our process can easily and automatically convert them for online displaying.

Video Presentations

Besides their active participation within the forum, authors are also encouraged to submit video presentations. The video should be no longer than 20 minutes and be prepared with the following formats,

Accepted File Formats

MS Word: Manuscript prepared in MS Word must be converted into a single file before submission. When preparing manuscripts in MS Word, the Electronic Conference on Synthetic Organic Chemistry Microsoft Word template file (see download below) must be used. Please do not insert any graphics (schemes, figures, etc.) into a movable frame which can superimpose the text and make the layout very difficult.

Manuscript Preparation

Paper Format: A4 paper format, the printing area is 17.5 cm x 26.2 cm. The margins should be 1.75 cm on each side of the paper (top, bottom, left, and right sides).

Formatting / Style: Papers should be prepared following the style of ECSOC 2017 template. The full titles and the cited papers must be given. Reference numbers should be placed in square brackets [ ], and placed before the punctuation; for example [4] or [1-3], and all the references should be listed separately and as the last section at the end of the manuscript.

Authors List and Affiliation Format: Authors' full first and last names must be given. Abbreviated middle name can be added. For papers written by various contributors a corresponding author must be designated. The PubMed/MEDLINE format is used for affiliations: complete street address information including city, zip code, state/province, country, and email address should be added. All authors who contributed significantly to the manuscript (including writing a section) should be listed on the first page of the manuscript, below the title of the article. Other parties, who provided only minor contributions, should be listed under Acknowledgments only. A minor contribution might be a discussion with the author, reading through the draft of the manuscript, or performing English corrections.

Figures, Schemes and Tables: Authors are encouraged to prepare figures and schemes in color. Full color graphics will be published free of charge. Figure and schemes must be numbered (Figure 1, Scheme I, Figure 2, Scheme II, etc.) and a explanatory title must be added. Tables should be inserted into the main text, and numbers and titles for all tables supplied. All table columns should have an explanatory heading. Please supply legends for all figures, schemes and tables. The legends should be prepared as a separate paragraph of the main text and placed in the main text before a table, a figure or a scheme.

It is the authors' responsibility to identify and declare any personal circumstances or interests that may be perceived as inappropriately influencing the representation or interpretation of clinical research. If there is no conflict, please state here "The authors declare no conflict of interest." The development of renewable fuels is driven by different countries due to future shortages of fossil fuels and damage to the environment caused by their use. A promising alternative to replace the growing energy crisis and reduce environmental damage is second generation ethanol, which can be produced from sugarcane-based lignocellulosic biomass, an excellent raw material with high availability and abundance that does not cause competition with energy sources. Second generation production, generally characterized by preprocessing, hydrolysis and fermentation, is not as advanced as first generation production. However, with continuous scientific effort, this change can be altered. A clear understanding of the chemical changes that occur through hydrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass is critical to process control and optimization. In this sense, the development of graphite and paraffin composite sensors, modified with carbon nanotubes (FMWCNTs) and molecularly printed polymers (MIPs) for the determination of D-arabinose is an excellent option, because these sensors have high selectivity and sensitivity in the analyzes.For this reason, the present work presents a chemical study of the functional groups of the chemical species present on the surfaces of the materials using the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) technique and a morphological analysis by the Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) technique.

Anthracene fluorophore and an oxazine chromophore get coupled within the same molecular configuration to produce a molecular machine based receptor 1. On treatment with TFA, the oxazine closed form gets open in conjugation with the 1, 3, 3-Trimethylindoline species. This molecular change produces a bathochromic shift of 140nm directly from UV to Visible region in association with intense pink color. This molecule can be used as molecular ink to print a different colored decoration on paper. Upon addition with TEA, the colored open forms of the receptor revert to its original colorless form to rub the printed impression. Thus, the simple paper can be used for multiple times to achieve the write-read-erase strategy. This photoswitchable molecular motif can evolve many opportunities in the industry for printing purpose and huge paper consumption.

Amphiphilic molecules have been actively explored as promising materials in the field of bio and nanotechnology. These molecules are constituted by a polar head and a lipophilic tail and in an aqueous medium are self-assemble to form different types of macromolecular structures such as micelles, monolayer vesicles, bars, sheets and tubes. In this work, a convergent synthetic approach for the synthesis of two new amphiphilic compounds based on a versatile amino polar head, a tetraethylene glycol spacer and a lipophilic tail derived from oleic acid has been developed. Subsequently, after a self-assembly process in aqueous medium, nanostructures as micelles have been obtained and characterized. Finally, a procedure for the inclusion of the highly lipophilic drug Dexamethasone has been carried out in order to study the ability of these micelles to act as nanovectors for drug delivery.

Ionic liquids (ILs) are mostly composed of organic cations and organic/inorganic anions. One of the most important classes of ILs are imidazolium ILs. [1]. The hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity of ILs are regbenzohydrazidularly influenced by the length of alkyl side chain of cation. According to this effect, better hydrophilicity comes from a shorter alkyl side chain and on the contrary, better hydrophobicity comes from a lengthier alkyl side chain of cation. Typical ILs have exceptional properties. Most ILs are stable at about 300 ^oC in the liquid state at normal conditions. Due to the exceptional properties of ILs, they have been used in diverse industries including batteries and fuels. As solvents, ILs have been employed in many chemical fields. Solubilities of ILs with organic/inorganic species are completely satisfactory. Here, by N-methyl imidazole (Im), 1,3-dibromopropane, triethanolamine (TEA), and ZnBr₂, new ionic liquid (TEA-Im-Zn) was synthesized and used as catalyst and solvent in the synthesis of functionalized 1-benzamino-1,4-dihydropyridine using aromatic aldehyde, malononitrile, triethylamine, arylamine and dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylate.

In certain countries, many of the reagents used to transform carboxylic acids to acyl halides such as phosphorus trichloride, phosphorus tribromide, phosphorus pentachloride, phosphoryl chloride, thionyl chloride and sulfuryl chloride are difficult to come by. Against this background, the authors developed the reaction system triphenylphosphine (PPh₃) – bromotrichloromethane (BrCCl₃) to prepare acyl halides in situ. In the following, the use of this reagent combination is joined with the reaction of the in situ prepared acyl halides with nitrogen nucleophiles, specifically with hydrazines, methylamine and anilines. The reaction is also used in an intramolecular variant by the reaction of maleanilic acids to N-arylmaleimides.
