Welcome from the Chair

MDPI is pleased to collaborate with UDIMA - Madrid Open University to host an online Scientific Publishing Exchange that provides essential insights into MDPI and the world of Open Access publishing.

Welcome to this Scientific Publishing Exchange, designed specifically for PhD students, early-career academic staff, and mid-career colleagues. This event offers a valuable opportunity to enhance your skills, particularly in the critical area of peer-reviewing for academic journals.

Peer-review is a cornerstone of academic publishing, and understanding its nuances not only improves your own research but also strengthens the broader academic community. For many of you, especially those early in your academic journey, this topic will provide valuable insights and practical guidance.

Introduction
Bio
María del Sequeros Pedroso Chaparro is an Associate Professor at the Universidad a Distancia de Madrid (UDIMA) in Spain. She earned her Ph.D. in Clinical and Health Psychology from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and holds a Master's degree in General Health Psychology from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos. Her research focuses on aging and caregivers of individuals with dementia. Notably, she participated as a Predoctoral Researcher in the project titled "Lights and Shadows in Caregiving: Correlates of Ambivalence and Experiential Avoidance in Implicit Processing and Caregiver-Care Recipient Interaction," funded by Spain's Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities. Her scholarly work has resulted in over 20 publications.

Bio
Ms. Paula Navarro is a biotechnologist with over six years of experience in the scientific publishing industry. She joined MDPI in January 2018 and has since held several roles (Assistant Editor, Section Managing Editor, and Group Leader). She currently serves as a Journal Relations Specialist for five journals: Genes, Antibodies, Dietetics, Epigenomes, and JMAHP. In recent years, she has organized and participated in numerous online and in-person meetings with scholars. She has represented MDPI at several international conferences.

Bio
Mr. Iñigo Aristizabal is a biochemist with extensive expertise in the academic publishing industry. He joined the MDPI office in Barcelona as Assistant Editor in November 2017 and has since served as a Section Managing Editor and, more recently, as a Journal Relations Specialist. He primarily supports the journals Genes, Cardiogenetics, DNA, and J (Multidisciplinary Scientific Journal) by coordinating scholarly meetings and managing booth attendance at both virtual and in-person conferences.
