This session, focused on research in medicine and pharmacology, discusses publication quality, insights of a Guest Editor, through the experience sharing of threeexperienced Guest Editors in the subject.

Department of Computing Science, Thompson Rivers University, Canada;Canadian Association for Artificial Intelligence and Future Studies, Canada;Dr. Ghazanfar Latif is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computing Science at Thompson Rivers University, Kamloops, Canada, and the Founding Director of AIRL (AI Research Lab—airl.ca), advancing human-centered artificial intelligence across healthcare, defense and security, assistive technologies, and Indigenous communities. With more than 12 years of experience in higher education, he has contributed extensively to teaching, research, innovation, curriculum development, and academic leadership. Since 2017, Dr. Latif has published over 110 research articles and holds 14 U.S. patents in Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, Medical Imaging, Computer Vision, IoT, Robotics, and Assistive Technologies. His work has received numerous national and international recognitions, including being listed among the World's Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University and Elsevier in 2024 and 2025, and receiving the Gold Medal with Honor at the 49th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science as a Gold Medalist from the University of Malaysia Sarawak and later completed an FRQNT-funded postdoctoral fellowship at Université du Québec à Chicoutimi, Canada. Dr. Latif serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Inspire Intelligence Journal, Editorial Board Member of Discover Artificial Intelligence (Springer Nature), IEEE Senior Member, and President of the Canadian Association for Artificial Intelligence and Future Studies (AAIFS).
College of Physicians of Barcelona, Spain;Pedro Plans-Rubió is a Member of the College of Physicians of Barcelona, responsible for Health Registries at the Public Health Agency of Catalonia, Spain (until 2025). He has an MD, PhD, and MSc in Health Economics, and an MSc in Research Methods. He specialized in Preventive Medicine and Public Health and also Labor Medicine. He is an expert of the European Commission for assessing public health and health economics projects. He is a member of the Group of Prioritization of Treatments (GIP), Heath Emergency Preparedness and Response (HERA), European Commission; member of the Non-communicable diseases risk factor Collaboration (NCD-RisC) research group; member of the CIBER of Epidemiology and Public Health (CIBERESP), Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Madrid, Spain (until 2025); member of the Editorial Board of the journal Vaccines. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Section “Vaccine Efficacy and Safety” of the journal Vaccines. He is the Editor of several Special Issues of the journal Vaccines and member of the Editorial Board of the journal Pharmacoeconomics Open. He is Associate Editor of Section "Cancer Immunity and Immunotherapy" of the journal Frontiers in Immunology. His research is focused on the evaluation of vaccines and vaccination programs, the evaluation of medicines and health programs, the epidemiology of infectious diseases, and the epidemiology of factors associated with chronic diseases.
INSA - National Institute of Health Dr Ricardo Jorge, Porto, Portugal;I3S - Instituto de Investigação e Inovação em Saúde, Universidade do Porto, Portugal;Monica C. Botelho has completed her PhD with Distinction in 2011 from the Faculty of Medicine of Porto University. She is the Head of Lab of Health Promotion and Chronic Diseases Unit of the National Institute of Health Dr. Ricardo Jorge at Porto, a premier health service organization in Portugal. She has published more than 50 papers, with more than 1600 citations, and an H Index of 26 (Google Scholar metrics). She has been serving as an editorial board member of the following journals: Journal of Tropical Medicine and Infectious diseases, Frontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, Frontiers in Parasitology, Frontiers in Medicine, Frontiers in Public Health, Journal of Integrated OMICS, Analytical Cellular Pathology and Current Cancer Therapy Reviews. Her main research topics are Neglected Tropical Diseases associated Cancers and Infertility and Personalized medicine to predict susceptibility to long term chronic sequela of schistosome exposure like cancer and infertility.
