MDPI is pleased to invite all Guest Editors to participate in the 9th MDPI Guest Editor Club Webinar | Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities Session.

The MDPI Guest Editor Club Webinar Series brings together Guest Editors to exchange ideas and showcase research published through Special Issues. This session, focused on research in social sciences, arts and humanities, discusses publication quality, insights of a Guest Editor, through the experience sharing of four experienced Guest Editors in the subject.

Dr. Olga Ivanova

International Center for Spanish Language, University of Salamanca, Spain;Olga Ivanova is Associate Professor of General Linguistics at the University of Salamanca. She is an ex officio member of the Consolidated Research Unit LinGAP, where she leads the “LendeLAB: Language and Neurodegeneration” research strand, and is a researcher at the Institute of Neurosciences of Castilla y León and the Salamanca Institute for Biomedical Research. Her main research interests focus on the study of language disorders in aging, experimental psycholinguistics, clinical sociolinguistics, and the development of language-disorder corpora. She coordinates the CORPES XXI project of the Royal Spanish Academy at the University of Salamanca and serves as Deputy Director of the Master’s Degree in Linguistic Research at the same institution. She also leads the FONEMA project, “Corpus of Phonetic Biomarkers of Neurodegenerative Diseases,” funded through the Leonardo Grant awarded by the BBVA Foundation.

Prof. Dr. Andrea Borowczak

School of Teacher Education, University of Central Florida, USA;Dr. Andrea C. Borowczak is Director of the School of Teacher Education and Professor of Science Education at the University of Central Florida. Her research focuses on integrated STEM education, engineering education, and partnership development across K-20 settings. She is dedicated to creating meaningful, innovative, and inclusive STEM learning opportunities that broaden participation and prepare learners for future careers. Through her work, she has fostered collaborations among schools, universities, industry partners, and community organizations to strengthen STEM education pathways. A nationally recognized leader in science and STEM teacher education, Dr. Borowczak received the ASTE Outstanding Science Teacher Educator of the Year Award (2021), the ASTE Innovation in Teaching Science Teachers Award (2020), and the American Society for Engineering Education PCEE Lifetime Achievement Award (2026). She has held leadership positions in AACTE, AERA, ASTE, and ASEE, contributing to the advancement of research, policy, and practice in teacher education. Dr. Borowczak has secured more than $11 million in external funding, published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles, guest edited three special issues of Education Sciences, and delivered more than 225 conference presentations nationally and internationally. Her scholarship continues to influence STEM teaching and learning, educator preparation, and the development of innovative educational practices that benefit students and teachers at all levels.

Dr. Sara Fiorentino

Department of Cultural Heritage, University of Bologna, Italy;Dr. Sara Fiorentino is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Cultural Heritage, University of Bologna, in the academic discipline PHYS-06/A—Physics for Life Sciences, Environment, and Cultural Heritage. Her research focuses on the conservation and management of cultural heritage at risk, with particular attention to preventive conservation and management strategies for enhancing the resilience of cultural heritage. She holds a PhD from the University of Bologna and has been involved in national and international research projects addressing cultural heritage conservation, risk management, education, and public engagement. Her work combines heritage science with interdisciplinary approaches to risk awareness, education, and the engagement of different communities and stakeholders. Alongside her research activities, she is actively involved in scientific communication, education, and editorial work. She has served as Guest Editor for three Special Issues of Heritage (MDPI), covering topics ranging from archeological materials and their cultural significance to conservation and restoration, and the sustainable management of cultural heritage at risk.

Dr. Gillian Dooley

College of Human Sciences and Culture, Flinders University, Australia;Gillian Dooley is a literary scholar and editor based in Adelaide, South Australia. She has founded and edited two literary journals, Transnational Literature (2008-2018), and Writers in Conversation (2014-2020). While she was the editor of Transnational Literature, five Special Issues of the journal were published. Her own publications include several monographs and many journal articles and book chapters, as well as several edited essay collections bringing together the work of international scholars on a specific theme. These collections include both books and special journal issues, on subjects as diverse as Australian Indigenous history, Jane Austen in popular culture, and Iris Murdoch’s philosophy. In 2025, she edited a Special Issue of Humanities titled ‘Music and the Written Word’. Gillian is also on the editorial board of several journals, including MDPI’s journal Literature, and Journal of Military Arts, Culture and Humanities, a new Australian publication.
