Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to invite you to join the 2nd International Arab-Gulf Security Conference. The conference will be a hybrid event taking place via Zoom and at the American University of the Emirates campus in Dubai, UAE.
The American University in the Emirates (AUE) will be hosting and organizing the 2nd IAGSC under the patronage of Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Lieutenant General and the current Deputy Chief of Police and General Security in Dubai. The conference seeks to provide a platform for researchers to present and discuss recent developments, trends, and challenges accenting the world order whether politically, socially, or economically. Participants involved in the IAGSC are welcome to discuss and present research examining the possible strategies and solutions in the field of International Security Studies (ISS), International Relations (IR), and International Law (IL) by considering Global affairs generally, and the Arabian Gulf region specifically.
The American University in the Emirates and its College of Security and Global Studies (CSGS) are committed to research and the need to increase high-quality intellectual and scientific production in the UAE. This call for abstract presentation at the 2nd IAGSC invites researchers to join us in dialogue and following the conclusion of the conference submit their full manuscript at two SCOPUS indexed journals sponsoring IAGSC 2023.
The scope of IAGSC 2023 is to cover a whole range of research and sub-disciplines accenting Security, Law, and Politics thereby initiating a conference presenting and discussing new areas of research. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the sessions mentioned below.

American University in the Emirates - <a href="https://aue.ae/prof-assem-abd-el-fattah-hussein-tharwat/">Website</a>;Prof. Assem Tharwat earned his master’s degree in mathematical Statistics and his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Cairo University, Egypt, and his Ph.D. in Operations Research from Charles University, Czech Republic. He accumulated almost 40 years of academic experience in different universities in both the public and private sectors in Egypt and in UAE. He taught both basic and advanced courses in many fields in Operations Research and Management Sciences. Prof Assem supervised about forty Ph.D. and M.Sc. thesis during the past 20 years and he published more than 100 articles in International/National Journals and conferences. In addition, he accumulated almost 15 years’ experience in the accreditation field in Egypt and UAE, moreover he is working as a member in the AACSB team for almost four years in AUE. Prof Assem has a good experience in the academic positions for more than 15 years and he served as a dean between 2011 and 2013 in CIC, Egypt & between 2017 and 2019 and from April 2020 till present in COBA, AUE, UAE. He is the current dean of the college of Business Administration - AUE since April 2020. Moreover, he worked as a member of the AACSB team for almost four years in AUE and led the team to attain the AACSB accreditation in February 2022. Prof. Assem has a good experience in academic positions for more than 15 years and served as Dean between 2011 and 2013 in CIC, Egypt and between 2017 and 2019 and from April 2020 to December 2021 in the College of Business Administration at AUE, UAE. He is currently the Dean of the College of Computer Information Technology in AUE since March 2022.

He held previous appointments as a Dean of the School of Security and Global Studies and Professor of International Relations, he was an Assistant to the President for Policies and Procedures (2013-2017), Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science (2006-2013), and Dean of Students (2011-20 12). Dr Chahine received his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri, St. Louis (1998). He has an MA in International Relations, MA in Political Science, and BA in Political Science from Mc Gill University. Dr. Ghais’ main area of research interest is Conflict Resolution and the effects of democratization and development of pluralistic societies. He published a number of book chapters and articles, and participated in many international and local conferences with papers dealing with such issues as Resolving Identity Conflict, Ethnic Pluralism, Failed States, the Changing American Role in International Relations, Democratization, and Globalization.
