Welcome from
the chairs

Dear all,

On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to ICM 2027 — 7th International Conference on Materials, which will be held from 29 October to 1 November 2027 in Guangzhou, China.

Materials science underpins nearly every technological breakthrough of our time—from the semiconductors driving modern electronics to the advanced composites enabling sustainable construction and clean energy. The discovery and engineering of novel materials continues to shape how we live, build, communicate, and protect our environment. ICM provides an essential forum where the global materials community can exchange the latest findings and collectively define the future of the field.

Since its inception, the ICM series has grown into a recognized platform for academic exchange. Following successful editions in Manchester, UK (2026); Basel, Switzerland (2024); and Barcelona, Spain (2022), with earlier editions held online, we are honored to bring the conference to Guangzhou in 2027. As a dynamic hub of innovation and commerce in southern China, Guangzhou offers an inspiring and welcoming setting for international collaboration, combining modern infrastructure with a rich cultural heritage.

Key areas of focus for this conference include, but are not limited to, the following:
S1: Organic Optoelectronics and Optical Materials
S2: Inorganic Materials, Ceramics and Glasses
S3: Metals and Alloys
S4: Materials Manufacturing, Characterization, Simulation and AI
S5: Bio-based and Polymeric Materials
S6: Composites, Porous and Carbon Materials
S7: Nanomaterials and Thin Films
S8: Energy, Environmental and Catalytic Materials
S9: Electronic and Magnetic Materials
S10: Advanced Construction and Building Materials

We warmly invite academics, researchers, engineers, and students from around the world to join us in Guangzhou for ICM 2027, and we look forward to the many exciting discussions, discoveries, and collaborations that will emerge.

Kind regards,
Prof. Yuguang Ma, South China University of Technology, China
Prof. Yongcheng Lin, Central South University, China
