Prof. Dr. Vogl is a distinguished expert in diagnostic and interventional radiology, renowned for his innovative contributions and leadership in the field. As the Professor and Chairman of Clinic for Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at University Hospital of Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt/Main, Vogl has established himself as a leading authority in interventional oncology and vascular procedures. His groundbreaking work includes the development of an angiography robot, which delivers high-resolution images from within the body, enabling the detection of previously undiscovered tumors and metastases. This technology allows for precise, minimally invasive treatments, significantly improving patient outcomes. He regularly employs this robot in interventions at the University Hospital Frankfurt, where patients can follow the surgery while fully conscious, emphasizing his commitment to patient care from treatment planning to aftercare. In addition to his clinical work, Vogl is at the forefront of future-oriented research, particularly in the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning into radiological practices. The University Hospital Frankfurt, under his leadership, is one of the first centers worldwide to adopt a 3D camera on a CT device which uses AI methods to reduce X-ray doses, enhance image quality, and expedite examination procedures. Vogl's dedication to the highest scientific standards is evident in his meticulous adherence to radiation safety protocols and his focus on quality control in specialist areas such as radiotherapy and nuclear medicine. His team utilizes state-of-the-art technology, including adaptable sonography equipment and one of Germany's first HIFU devices, which uses highly intense focused ultrasound to treat inoperable tumors. Since 2018, he has been involved in the "DFB Academy" project, focusing on medical care for professional athletes and advancing research and training in sports medicine.
