JMSE Webinar | Maritime Logistics and Green Shipping
15 Jan 2025, 09:00 (CEST)
Maritime logistics, Green shipping, Sustainable transportation, Optimization in liner shipping
Welcome from the Chair
Welcome to our cutting-edge webinar titled "Maritime Logistics and Green Shipping," hosted by the Journal of Marine Science and Engineering. As the global shipping industry faces challenges from environmental regulations and operational inefficiencies, our expert speakers will delve into innovative solutions that promise to revolutionize maritime operations.
Today, we are thrilled to invite three distinguished speakers, each specializing in vital aspects of maritime logistics and sustainability. Our first speaker, Dr. Lingxiao Wu, an Assistant Professor at the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, will discuss "Distributionally Robust Optimization of Sailing speed, Fuel switch, and Bunkering for LNG-fueled Liner Shipping Line". His insights will explore how to utilize the distributionally robust optimization technique to optimize LNG-fueled liner shipping lines in terms of sailing speed, fuel switching, and bunkering decisions.
Following him, our second speaker, Dr. Wei Wang, a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, will discuss "The Impact of Autonomous Ships in Regional Waterways". Her insights will explore how autonomous shipping can enhance sustainable logistics practices and improve operational efficiencies in regional contexts.
Our third speaker, Dr. Xuecheng Tian, a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, will introduce a novel "Smart Predict-then-Optimize Method for Targeted and Cost-Effective Ship Maintenance Planning". This talk will highlight the use of machine learning and predictive analytics in ship maintenance strategies that minimize costs and mitigate risks, emphasizing the practical benefits of integrating advanced technologies in maritime operations.
