MDPI World Arthritis Day Webinar 2026 Session 2
MDPI is excited to announce a special webinar in celebration of World Arthritis Day on 12 October 2026. This event aims to highlight the global effort to raise awareness of the existence and impact of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs) and improve access to early diagnosis, informed care, and stronger community support. Aligned with this year's theme "Achieve Your Dreams," the webinar emphasizes the urgent need for equitable healthcare and stronger collaboration to ensure that arthritis does not define what someone can work towards. Join us as researchers and experts to share the latest insights and innovations driving progress towards a future where every person affected by RMDs can pursue their goals and aspirations.

Center for Orthopedics, Trauma Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine, University Medicine Greifswald, 17475 Greifswald, Germany;Giorgio Perino, born in Bologna, Italy, studied human medicine at the University of Bologna, followed by postgraduate studies in experimental and clinical oncology and epidemiology and anatomic pathology in Italy, and anatomic pathology and bone and soft tissue pathology at Mount Sinai Hospital, Hospital for Joint Diseases, and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, USA. He is currently a member of the Expamed Expert Panel of Orthopedics, traumatology, rehabilitation, and rheumatology. Dr. Perino specializes in the histopathology of experimental and clinical orthopedic pathology, focusing on terminology and histological analysis of periprosthetic tissue reactions to joint arthroplasty wear material (adverse local tissue reactions and osteolysis), with wear-particle nano-analysis and experimental animal models for implant infection. As of April 2026, Dr. Perino has more than 40 publications listed in PubMed.
Division of Rheumatology, AOU Policlinico “G. Rodolico” San Marco, 95121 Catania, Italy;Roberta Foti, MD, is a rheumatologist in the Division of Rheumatology at AOU Policlinico “G. Rodolico–San Marco” in Catania, Italy, and a PhD candidate in Innovative Technologies in Biomedical Sciences at Kore University of Enna. Her clinical and research interests focus on inflammatory rheumatic diseases, particularly psoriatic arthritis and spondyloarthritis, as well as systemic autoimmune diseases. Her research activity includes real-world studies evaluating the effectiveness, treatment persistence, and positioning of biologic and targeted therapies in psoriatic arthritis, with particular interest in IL-17 and IL-23 inhibition and axial disease. She is actively involved in clinical research and multidisciplinary projects aimed at improving disease assessment and personalized management of patients with rheumatic diseases.
School of Medicine and Population Health, Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and University of Sheffield, Sheffield S10 2BR, UK;Prof. Adewale Adebajo MBE is a Professor in Musculoskeletal Health Service Research at the University of Sheffield and a Visiting Professor in Rheumatology at the University of Keele, both in the United Kingdom. He is also Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Strategic Lead for the United Kingdom National Institute for Health and Social Care (NIHR) Sheffield Biomedical Research Center as well as PPI and Research Inclusion Strategic Lead for the NIHR Sheffield Health Technology Research Center. In addition, he is a senior Consultant Rheumatologist and Associate Medical Director in South Yorkshire. Prof. Adebajo has extensive experience promoting inclusivity in health research and in 2020, he was awarded an MBE for services to Inclusive Research in recognition of this. He is a co-author of the United Kingdom Standards for Public Involvement in Research.
