MDPI World Diabetes Day Webinar 2023
14 Nov 2023, 10:00 (CET)
Diabetes Care, Diabetes Management, Diabetes, Chronic Kidney Disease
Welcome from the Chair
In order to commemorate the World Diabetes Day (https://www.un.org/en/observances/diabetes-day), MDPI is launching a special webinar to encourage researchers to join together, take action, and raise awareness of diabetes care.
100 years after the discovery of insulin, millions of people with diabetes around the world cannot access the care they need. People with diabetes require ongoing care and support to manage their condition and avoid complications. The centenary of the discovery of insulin presents a unique opportunity to bring about meaningful change for the more than 460 million people living with diabetes and the millions more at risk.
The webinar aims to encourage connections and collaboration among air pollution researchers and the international open access community to share and discuss their research findings. We are very much looking forward to seeing you at the MDPI World Diabetes Day 2023.

João Pessoa, Biochemist, completed his PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Porto (Portugal). He did his first postdoctoral stage in gene expression at the University of Lisbon (Portugal), which included a secondment at the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina). During his second postdoctoral stage, at the University of Coimbra (Portugal), he became interested in understanding how different diets can affect the metabolism of fat and sugar in mammals, focusing his research on dietary effects on the gut microbiome. In 2023, he relocated himself to the University of Aveiro (Portugal).
