HBV Induces Liver Fibrosis Through The Pyruvate-PPARα-dependent Pathway
Bio
Dr. Wenyu Lin is a principal investigator (PI) in Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Lin obtained his Ph.D. from University of Massachusetts. Dr. Lin’s has more than 25 years’ research experience and strong record of accomplishments in virology, immunology, molecular biology, viral hepatitis and gastroenterology. His fundamental and translational research is in the field of HBV, HCV, HIV coinfections, pathogenesis and liver diseases. His recent work focuses on the cooperative mechanisms of HIV-enhanced liver fibrogenesis in HBV coinfection. He has more than 77 publications in multiple national and international peer reviewed journals. His presentation topic is about the mechanism by which HBV infection induces pyruvate production and decreases PPARα expression, leading to increased ROS generation and liver fibrosis. Pyruvate and PPARα represent novel targets for antifibrotic therapeutic development in chronic HBV.
