School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Plymouth, Plymouth, UK;
Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology, University of Würzburg, Würzburg, Germany;Atlas University Research Center (ARC), Istanbul Atlas University, Istanbul, Turkey;Süleyman Ergün is a full Professor at the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Julius Maximilians University, Würzburg, Germany. Prior to being appointed to his current position, he completed his doctoral thesis (1993) and his “Habilitation” (1998) at the Institute of Anatomy, Hamburg–Eppendorf University Hospital. He undertook a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School (Judah Folkman’s Lab) (1997) and was a member of the executive board of the Hamburg “Ärztekammer”, Germany (2002–2003). In 2006, he was appointed Chair of the Institute of Anatomy at Essen University Hospital, Germany. Since 2011, he has been Chair of the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Julius Maximilians University, Würzburg, Germany. He was a member of the executive board of the Anatomical Society (2014–2019) and has been elected to the review panel for medicine at the “Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG (German Research Foundation) (since 2020). His research covers vascular biology and endothelial barrier function; cardiovascular regeneration; angiogenesis and vasculogenesis, including tumor vascularization, stem and progenitor cell biology; vascular bioprinting; and organoids. He received the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) Award for Vascular Cell Biology and the Konjetzny Award of the “Hamburger Krebsgesellschaft” (Cancer Society of Hamburg) for his research on processes of the structural formation of the vessel wall in angiogenesis and the growth of tumors, among other awards.
Institute for Globally Distributed Open Research and Education (IGDORE), St. Catharines, Canada;Prof. Dr. Jens Coorssen is the joint-EiC for Proteomes. He has served as EiC from 2021 and also serves as a EBM for Biotech. Dr. Coorssen works in the areas of basic, clinical, and translational research. His research focuses on proteomics and lipidomics — the analysis of proteins and lipids, including their distribution, structure, and function. His basic research focus is on exocytosis, which is the process of a cell releasing proteins into the fluid outside the cell. In particular, he examines the how calcium is involved as a trigger. He also studies the related process of membrane fusion, and the specific roles of the molecules involved. Dr. Coorssen also researches stroke and the cardiovascular dysfunctions which contribute to their occurrence.
Faculty of Medicine, The University of Queensland, Hersto, Australia;Prof. Dr. André van Zundert is an Affiliate Professor at the Medical School, The University of Queensland (UQ), and an Honorary Professor at the Queensland Brain Institute, Australia. He is an internationally recognized expert in anaesthesiology, with research interests including airway management, general and regional anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia, and pain management. He has authored more than 400 scholarly publications and three major textbooks in anaesthesia. His research focuses on improving the safety and efficacy of anaesthesia, particularly airway management and recovery from general anaesthesia.

Every October, the Nobel Prize gives the world a moment to celebrate the discoveries that shape our future and to recognize the researchers behind them.
For this occasion, MDPI is launching the 2026 Nobel Prize Prediction to give the global research community a place to share in the anticipation—turning the guessing and debate that are commonplace in labs and lecture halls into something we experience together.
We invite every researcher, academic, and science enthusiast worldwide to submit their predictions for the laureates in Physiology or Medicine, Physics, and Chemistry, and to join us in celebrating the curiosity and excellence behind these prizes.
How it works:

To honor Professor Tu Youyou's remarkable contributions to human health and build upon her achievements, MDPI established the Tu Youyou Award in 2016. This award aims to acknowledge exceptional scholars committed to the research fields of natural product chemistry and medicinal chemistry.
Prize:
- CHF 100,000 (to be divided equally should multiple recipients be awarded).
- An award medal and a certificate.
Nomination Deadline: 31 October 2026
For nomination requirements and further information, please visit the Tu Youyou Award website (https://tuyouyouprize.org/nomination).
