3rd Oral Webinar

RME, MARME, SARME, IPE: When and How?

The transverse contraction of the upper jaw is a condition that can be diagnosed at different ages. Treatment methods change depending on the stage of development; during this webinar, the latest methods for expanding the maxilla will be presented, from those used in mixed dentition to those used in permanent dentition at the end of growth. Each method utilized will be presented through clinical cases, and its prerogatives will be explained as well as any contraindications. Finally, conclusions will be drawn about the most suitable appliances for various stages of growth.

Introduction
Talk
Title: "Skeletal Expansion via BAME/MARPE: When Do We Need Surgical Aid?" – The treatment of the compression of the upper maxilla is a very common dentofacial deformity in teenagers and adults (Betts NJ; Vanarsdali RL., 1995). In adult patients, when sutures are closed, there are two possible treatments: surgically assisted rapid maxillary expansion (SARME) and segmented osteotomy of the maxilla. Traditionally, SARME required the use of a tooth-borne orthodontic device (Hyrax or Haas). At this webinar, I will present a group of adult patients, all of whom have transversal hypoplasia of the maxilla and have been treated with our 3D bone-supported customized expansor.

Introduction
Talk
Title: "Many Ways for Maxillary Expansion" – Maxillary transverse deficiency is one of the most frequently diagnosed malocclusions, with the gold standard treatment being rapid or slow maxillary expansion. This approach has demonstrated orthopedic effects in younger patients and, with the use of temporary anchorage devices (TADs), in adult patients as well, even in the absence of surgical intervention. Recent advancements in digital technologies have enabled traditional appliances to be redesigned using digital printing processes, resulting in a high level of customization that considers the patient’s unique palatal anatomy. This presentation focuses on the treatment of patients with maxillary deficiency using various maxillary expansion appliances: a customized laser-melted metal maxillary expander supported by deciduous teeth, a customized laser-melted mini-screw-assisted maxillary expander, and the Invisalign palatal expander system.
