The webinar "Eco-Friendly Strategies in Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Processes" highlighted the critical role of chemists in creating a more sustainable future. The discussions revealed how advancements in both homogeneous and heterogeneous systems, from cleaner synthetic methods to reduced energy and resource consumption, can provide significant benefits for the environment, industry, and society. The key takeaway was that achieving a meaningful impact requires open collaboration, as sustainability is a shared responsibility.
Event Chair

Eleonora Aneggi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agrifood, Environmental and Animal Sciences at the University of Udine. She graduated in Chemistry in 2001 at University of Trieste and in 2007 she received her PhD at the University of Udine. Her scientific interests focus on catalytic processes, particularly those with environmental applications. Her research involves the development of advanced catalytic materials for the removal of atmospheric and water pollutants. In recent years, she has increasingly focused on the innovation of chemical processes, aiming to develop solutions that are not only efficient but also and environmentally sustainable. She works on the design and development of transition metal-based catalysts for conventional and advanced catalytic applications, with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability. She has extensive experience in national and international research projects and has collaborated with public and private institutions to design and implement catalytic processes for environmental protection and sustainable development. She is author or co-author of more than 70 scientific publications in top international journals. (WoS H-index=26, n. of citations 3330).
Invited Speakers

Daniele Zuccaccia graduated in Chemistry in 2001 from the University of Perugia. In 2004, he obtained his PhD in Chemical Sciences (cycle XVII) from the Department of Chemical Sciences at the University of Perugia. From 2005 to 2010, he held research fellow positions at the same university. During this period, his research focused on the synthesis, characterisation and application of organometallic compounds in homogeneous catalysis. The study of complexes in solution was carried out using investigation techniques based on heteronuclear, one-dimensional and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) [1D- and 2D-NOE NMR, and PGSE (Pulsed-Field Gradient Spin-Echo) NMR]. For this research activity, he received the Bonati Award from the Interdivisional Group of Organometallic Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI) in June 2012. From 2011 to now, he was a university researcher (until 2016) at the Department of Agricultural, Food, Environmental and Animal Sciences of the University of Udine, and since 2016 he has been an associate professor. In Udine, his research has focused on the synthesis, intramolecular and interionic characterisation using NMR techniques and the application in catalysis of linear Au(I) compounds. The research has focused on the NMR study of catalytic processes, which has enabled the achievement of sustainable and green production of chemicals using gold (I) catalysts. Bibliometric indices updated on 22 July 2025 (source: Wos): 94 articles, 4079 citations and h-index 39.

Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences, University of Cagliari, Italy
Andrea Porcheddu received his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1999 from the University of Sassari, where he also completed his undergraduate studies with honors. He conducted postdoctoral research in Strasbourg under the supervision of Prof. Charles Mioskowsky before returning to Italy, where he was promoted to Full Professor at the University of Cagliari in 2021. His research focuses on green and sustainable synthetic methodologies, particularly mechanochemistry, with applications in medicinal chemistry and industrial synthesis. He integrates enabling technologies such as microwave and LED-assisted synthesis, borrowing hydrogen, eutectic solvents, and environmentally friendly catalysis using earth-abundant metals (Fe, Cu). Prof. Porcheddu leads national (PRIN) and international (IMPACTIVE) projects and collaborates with major pharmaceutical companies (Chiesi, Dipharma, Flamma, Indena, Angelini Dompé). He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed papers, six book chapters, and holds an h-index of 44 (Scopus). He was awarded the 2023 National CINMPIS Prize and the 2025 SCI Division of Organic Chemistry Award for his contributions to sustainable organic synthesis.
