MDPI is pleased to collaborate with Universidad de Salamanca to host an Online Scientific Publishing Exchange that provides essential insights into MDPI and the world of Open Access publishing.
Welcome to this Scientific Publishing Exchange, designed specifically for PhD students, early-career academic staff, and mid-career colleagues. This event offers a valuable opportunity to enhance your skills, particularly in the critical area of peer-reviewing for academic journals.
Peer-review is a cornerstone of academic publishing, and understanding its nuances not only improves your own research but also strengthens the broader academic community. For many of you, especially those early in your academic journey, this topic will provide valuable insights and practical guidance.

Event Chair

Dr. Manuel Adolfo Sánchez Martín is a biochemist and researcher specializing in transgenic technologies and hematologic malignancies. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Salamanca in 2002 with cum laude distinction and an Extraordinary Award. His research focuses on modeling human diseases in mice, with experience in leading institutions such as CNIO, Cold Spring Harbor (USA), and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (UK). He has led national and regional research projects and combines his scientific work with teaching in Pharmacy, Biotechnology, and Medicine. Since 2005, he has directed the Transgenic Facility at USAL and is an active member of SECAL, SETGyC, and ISTT.
MDPI Speaker

Dr. Jesús García Cano graduated from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, has a master’s degree from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and obtained his Ph.D. degree at the Universidad de C.-La Mancha on Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine. He joined MDPI in February 2020 working as an Assistant Editor of IJMS and Viruses, in which he soon reached the Quality Check position and developed the roles of Section Managing Editor and Journal Relations Specialist in a wide selection of molecular sciences journals (SynBio, BioChem, JPM, Receptors) and others such as EJIHPE. Besides his editorial roles, he also worked as a Group Leader and Conference Representative and is currently the Office Manager in the company’s Barcelona office.
