28th Sensors Webinar

Smart Healthcare in the Internet of Things Continuum

Emerging digital technologies play a transformative role in the healthcare domain: in particular, the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructures, continuum computing paradigms, and wearable systems is reshaping how medical data are collected, processed, and applied to support patient care. These technologies, indeed, enable real-time monitoring, personalized treatments, and adaptive services distributed across edge, fog, and cloud layers, ultimately fostering healthcare models that are more efficient, scalable, and patient-centered. This webinar highlights the outcomes of two Italian national projects addressing exactly these challenges. Both initiatives investigate, from different but complementary perspectives, how IoT-based smart healthcare ecosystems can be designed and implemented to exploit the computational continuum, ensuring reliable data management and seamless interaction between heterogeneous devices and platforms. Particular emphasis will be devoted to wearable technologies, which act as primary enablers for continuous acquisition of physiological and contextual data, supporting advanced monitoring strategies and enabling the development of intelligent decision-support systems.
