Mateo Cordier completed his PhD in 2011, and since 2012 he has been teaching as an associate professor of ecological economics at Université de Versailles-Saint-Quentin (Université Paris-Saclay). He develops ecological–economic models to simulate environmental management scenarios. He is currently working on the shared environmental responsibility principle. He is also dynamising input–output econometric models coupled to system dynamics models applied to ecological issues related to marine habitats and marine plastic debris.
