Welcome from the Chair

The Solar & Stellar Seismology Forum: Waves in Space Plasmas is a community-driven initiative dedicated to fostering open discussion and collaboration in the study of waves and oscillatory phenomena in the solar and stellar plasma environment. The Forum aims to provide an inclusive and accessible platform for researchers across institutions, career stages, and related disciplines to exchange ideas, share new results, and explore emerging challenges in the study of waves in space plasmas.

Built on strong community interest and broad international participation, the Forum will feature a combination of traditional research talks with extended discussion, methods-focused and tutorial-style sessions, and dedicated early-career spotlight presentations. The goal is to encourage scientific dialogue, constructive debate, and the development of new collaborations within a friendly and supportive environment.

We warmly invite you to join us in shaping this platform and contributing to a vibrant and collaborative space for solar–stellar seismology research.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Forum.

Date: 21 April 2026

Event Chair

Centre for Fusion Space and Astrophysics, Physics Department, University of Warwick, United Kingdom

Introduction
Bio
Dr Dmitrii Kolotkov is an Assistant Professor and UKRI Stephen Hawking Fellow at the University of Warwick, UK, specialising in solar and stellar coronal magnetohydrodynamics, nonlinear plasma dynamics, helio- and asteroseismology, and advanced data analysis. He leads internationally recognised research in seismological diagnostics of solar and stellar atmospheres, combining theory, observations, and innovative signal-processing methods.

Keynote Speakers

Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias, Spain

Introduction
Bio
Iñigo Arregui is a phycisist and staff researcher at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias in Tenerife, Spain. He completed a PhD in Physics at Universitat de les Illes Balears with a thesis on magnetohydrodynamic waves in the solar atmosphere. He has conducted research in Spain (Universitat de les Illes Balears and Instituto de Astrofisica de Canarias) and Belgium (K.U. Leuven). He also had visiting professor positions at ISAS/JAXA (Japan) and K.U. Leuven. His research interests are focused on the magnetic structuring of the solar atmosphere, MHD waves in coronal structures, coronal seismology, coronal wave heating, and the application of Bayesian inference methods.

New Jersey Institute of Technology, USA

Introduction
Bio
John (JT) Stefan is an Assistant Research Professor at New Jersey Institute of Technology (USA). He received his PhD from the same institution in 2023 for his thesis titled "Helioseismic Diagnostics of Active Region and Magnetic Fields". John's research focuses on the generation of sunquakes, MHD modeling, and the prediction of active region emergence using helioseismic data.

High Altitude Observatory (HAO), National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), Boulder, CO, USA

Introduction
Bio
Zihao Yang is an ASP Postdoctoral Fellow at the High Altitude Observatory of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in US. He received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. from Peking University in 2019 and 2024. In 2024, he joined HAO as an NCAR Advanced Study Program (ASP) Postdoctoral Fellow. His research focuses on spectroscopic diagnostics of the solar corona, especially on coronal magnetism and dynamics, including the role of magnetic fields in structuring and driving the Sun’s outer atmosphere.
