Welcome to the Veterinary Sciences Webinar on Nutritional Modulation on Gut Health of Monogastric Animals. It is our great pleasure to welcome all participants to this event dedicated to one of the most important and rapidly developing areas in animal nutrition and health.
In this webinar, we will explore current advances in the use of nutrition-based approaches to promote gut health in monogastric animals, with particular attention paid to feed additives, nutrient utilization, and growth performance. These topics are highly relevant not only for improving animal productivity and welfare but also for addressing broader challenges in modern animal agriculture through innovative and efficient feeding strategies.
We are grateful for the support of the Editorial Team from MDPI’s Veterinary Sciences and for the opportunity to bring together researchers and scholars working in this field. We hope this webinar will provide a valuable platform for scientific exchange and will further encourage high-quality research contributions related to nutrition, gut health, and monogastric animal production.

Institute of Feed Research, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China;Dr. Xianren Jiang is a researcher at the Institute of Feed Research, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, focusing on the creation of green and efficient feed additives and integrated technology research for quality evaluation. He is the head of the China–Italy Joint Laboratory on Feed Additives in Monogastric Animals, a visiting professor at the University of Milan, and co-supervisor of a PhD candidate at the University of Bologna. He has acted as the PI for 46 projects, obtained approval for one new feed additive product as the primary contributor to quality standards, published 32 SCI papers as the first or corresponding author, and secured three computer software copyrights.

Dept. of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences, University of Milan, Lodi, Italy;Dr. Luca Marchetti graduated in 2025 following a 3-year PhD program focused on the application of feed additives to improve monogastric animal health. He obtained his experience at the international level, following a six-month enrollment at the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences of Aarhus University. Currently, he is working as a Post-doc Fellow at the University of Milan, continuing his research activity on nutritional strategies to improve the health of pigs and chickens during critical phases of the production cycle. In addition, his work is conducted by actively collaborating with the Institute of Feed Research of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Beijing, where he is currently engaged in a research exchange.
