Title Story Authors Webinar of 2025

For this webinar, we have invited three authors of title story papers published in 2025 in the journals Birds, Pets, and Veterinary Sciences. During the session, they will present the research highlighted in their title story papers and share related work as well as recent findings from their research groups.

This webinar aims to promote academic exchange, highlight impactful research in animal science, and encourage discussion within the research community.

Bio
Jan S. Suchodolski is a professor, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Pets (ISSN: 2813-9372), Purina PetCare Endowed Chair for Microbiome Research, associate director and head of microbiome sciences at the Gastrointestinal Laboratory at Texas A&M University. He received his DrVetMed from the University Vienna, Austria and his PhD in veterinary microbiology from Texas A&M University. He is board certified in immunology by the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists (ACVM). His research is focused on developing biomarkers for gastrointestinal disease and therapeutic approaches for the modulation of the intestinal microbiota. He has authored or co-authored more than 400 peer-reviewed articles in the area of veterinary gastroenterology and microbiome research. In 2024, he received the AVMA career achievement in canine research award

International Bird Conservation Partnership, Sweden; University of Georgia, USA

Introduction
Bio
Nico Arcilla is an avian ecologist and conservation biologist based in Sweden with over 25 years of research experience in the Americas, Pacific and Caribbean islands, Africa and Madagascar, and Europe and the Middle East. She earned her BA from Yale University, MS from Cornell University, and PhD from the University of Georgia (USA), and subsequently held positions with organizations including the Zoological Society of London, Smithsonian Institution, and Drexel University. She currently directs the International Bird Conservation Partnership and is also a member of the IUCN Hornbill Specialist Group and chair of the Raptor Research Foundation’s Beingolea Grant committee. Together with colleagues from around the world, she has published over 50 peer-reviewed scientific articles to date.

Bio
Dr. Boykin is a graduate of NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine. From there she went on to do a Small Animal rotating internship at Louisiana State University. Upon completion, Dr. Boykin stayed on at LSU to pursue a Masters degree focused on reptile nutrition and feeder insects and then a PhD degree focused on epidemiology of feeder insect diseases.  She is now an Assistant Professor at LSU working in the wildlife department and continues her research in insect medicine.
