Call for Papers
The 12th International Electronic Conference on Synthetic Organic Chemistry (ECSOC-12) will run from 1 - 30 November 2008. ECSOC-12 Proceedings will be published later online and as a CD-ROM edition. Posters presented at ECSOC-12 may be considered as preliminary communications of new research results or review papers and may be published in another form later in any standard journal. At the authors discretion, contributions will be removed from the web-site after the end of the conference and not included in the online and CD-ROM proceedings editions. Authors are invited to publish their papers subsequently in Molecules.
Sessions
B. Solid Phase Chemistry and Combinatorial Synthesis
C. Bioorganic, Medicinal and Natural Products Chemistry
D. Symposium on Selenium and Tellurium Chemistry
E. Symposium on Microwave Assisted Synthesis
F. Polymer and Supramolecular Chemistry
G. Computational Chemistry
Instructions for Authors
Procedure for Submission, Peer-Review, Revision and Acceptance of Conference Proceedings Papers
1. Scholars interested in participating with the conference can submit their abstract (about 200-300 words covering the areas of Communications for the proceedings issue) online on this website until 30 September 2008.
2. The conference committee will pre-evaluate, based on the submitted abstract, whether a contribution from the authors of the abstract will be welcome for this 12th edition of ECSOC. All authors will be notified by 10 October 2008 about the acceptance of their abstract.
3. If the abstract is accepted for this conference, the author is asked to submit his full communication paper, optionally along with a PowerPoint presentation of his/her paper, until the submission deadline of 20 October 2008.
4. The conference committee will then organize a round of peer-review of the submitted communication papers, and authors are eventually asked to revise their paper based on peer-reviewer's comments.
5. Finally, accepted communication papers will appear on the website immediately after their acceptance.
6. Presented communications papers can be discussed, commented and rated during the time of the conference, 1-30 November 2008.
Proceedings Paper
Communications for the proceedings issue must have the following organization:
Firstpage:
Title
Full author names
Affiliations and authors' e-mail addresses
Abstract
Keywords
Introduction
Methods / Experim
Results and Discussion
Conclusions
(Acknowledgements)
References
Communications should be prepared in MS Word or any other word processor and should be converted to the PDF format before submission. The publication format will be PDF. The Communication paper should count at least 3 pages (incl. figures, tables and references). There is no page limit on the length, although authors are asked to keep their papers as concise as possible.
Presentation Slides
Authors are encouraged to preare a couple of slides in PowerPoint or similar software, to be displayed online along with the Communication. Slides, if available, will be displayed directly in the website using Sciforum.net's proprietary slides viewer. Slides can be prepared in exactly the same way as for any traditional conference where research results can be presented. Slides should be converted to the PDF format before submission so that our process can easily and automatically convert them for online displaying.

The reactivity of various b-aminoalcohols with diethyloxalate, in several reaction conditions, has been investigated. Lineal or cyclic derivatives were obtained depending on the nature of the solvent used and the starting material.

A recent increased attention is witnessed to the use of tetrachlorosilane (TCS), a cheap industrial intermediate, as a versatile reagent in organic synthesis. For example, TCS was used as an effective dehydrating agent, trans-silylating reagent and as a starting substrate for in situ preparation of other useful stoichiometric reagents in synthetic organic chemistry. Of these reagents TCS-NaI (Iodotrichlorosilane, ITCS), TCS-NaN3 (azidochlorosilanes) and TCS in combination with ZnCl2, Zn, KCN, Na2S and others. Some selected synthetic applications of TCS as dehydrating agent as well as one of its based "in situ" reagents (TCS-NaN3) are briefly highlighted herein.

The first total synthesis of enantiopure methyl (1S,2S,3R,4S,5R)-2-amino-3,4,5-trihydroxycyclopentanecarboxylate was carried out according to our recent novel strategy for the transformation of nitrohexofuranoses into cyclopentylamines, which is based on an intramolecular cyclization leading to 2-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane derivatives. Differences in reactivity for this key step were rationallized by using molecular mechanism based calculations.

We describe herein two synthetic approaches to 3-phenyl-5-nitro-isocoumarines, both based on a nitro-facilitated cyclization of o-phenylethynylbenzoic acids obtained by Sonogashira or Stephens-Castro mediated coupling of o-yodobenzoic acids and phenylacetilenes

We have prepared a serie of new naphthoquinomethanes: [2-(3-hydroxy-4-oxo-4H-naphthalen-1-ylidene) acetonitriles] by the cascade Michael-elimination reaction of sodium 1, 2-naphthoquinone-4-sulfonate with substituted acetonitriles in basic ethanol-water. |
