Welcome from the Chairs
“Greeting Dear Participants of the 20th World Congress of the International Society on Toxinology. Welcome to beautiful Buenos Aires! We are very grateful for your attendance at this congress and look forward to exciting, interactive and informative discussions. For this particular congress we have designed a novel program focusing on several new elements. This will include an in-depth look at how toxinology has impacted public health throughout the world and how we can do more to help those in the field. In addition to the canonical presentations highlighting recent developments in toxinology we will explore how different toxins affect the same organ or organ systems with the aim of better informing the pathophysiology of toxins and organ systems. Clinical sessions covering a number of important and emerging issues will be presented. Finally, in keeping with our recent traditions we will have student-led poster and speaking sessions. We have also built into the program an opportunity to explore beautiful Buenos Aires on your own and on Friday we will offer an optional excursion for you to enjoy a real taste and hospitality of Buenos Aires and Argentina.
On behalf of the organizers, I hope to see you in Buenos Aires to celebrate our 20th World Congress, meet old friends and make new ones and leave Buenos Aires with new ideas for collaborations with new colleagues in this exciting world of toxinology.
See you there!
Jay W. Fox, President of the IST

Price: included in the registration fee
The meeting banquet will be held at the San Miguel Palace, a beautiful hall located 5 blocks from Hotel Panamericano.
Address: Suipacha 84, Buenos Aires.

"La Mimosa" Day Trip
Friday 13 September
Price: 30-35 USD per person, incl. transfer from and to the hotel, and barbecue *
The activity consists of a typical Argentinian "country day". This will be, the visit to a ranch ("estancia"), called estancia "La Mimosa", which was funded over 100 years ago, and it has been managed by the same family since their foundation.
During the visit, we will have the opportunity to discover some local rural activities, visit some of the installations of the ranch, see some typical animals, and enjoy a show of horse racing with "gaucho" (the cowboys from South America) skills. You will have also the possibility to ride horses (if you know how to ride) or a horse carriage instead.
The visit includes also a wine/beer reception with some typical Argentinian food, and for lunch, we will enjoy an "asado", a very typical Argentinian barbecue with meat, salads, drinks (wine, soda or water) and a dessert. During the barbecue, we will be entertained with a show of folkloric music and dance. Argentina is a big country with different cultures influenced by a huge colonization, with very different music and dances ("zamba", "chacarera", "chamamé" and others) in their different regions, in addition to the famous music of Buenos Aires, the tango. After that, the music will continue and give us the opportunity to have a "dance time", or if you prefer, you would have the option to walk around the ranch and enjoy the sunset. At the end of the afternoon, a typical infusion and patisserie will be offered.
You can check some images and information at:
https://www.estancialamimosa.com.ar/en/index.html
For booking the activity, or if you have any questions, please contact us at: barbecueIST2019@mdpi.com
*Final price will vary depending on the number of attendees and the exchange rate. The price will confirmed on Monday 9 September, and the activity should be paid onsite at the conference registration desk that same date, or Tuesday the latest.
