The current webinar entitled: “Design, Synthesis and Applications of Ion Exchange Membranes” is dedicated to state of the art and contemporary trends in the research and development of ion exchange membranes (IEMs), including fully polymeric, ceramic, and hybrid ones, with their great potential in diverse technical applications for public health and environmental issues, and their pivotal role in emerging applications in the field of contemporary green energy conversion technology, e.g., hydrogen fuel cells, water/alcohol electrolyzers, and supercapacitors as separation/ion exchange membrane materials.

Dr. H. Penchev current research topic and research is dedicated on studying of polybenzimidazoles (PBIs) and solid polymer electrolyte membranes therefrom; synthesis; processing and characterization; ion-conductive membranes (both proton- and anion conductive); nanocomposite membranes; inversed and asymmetric membranes; chemically crosslinked membranes/cross-linking; stabilization; novel electrolyte systems, including ionic liquids and eutectics; electrospinning and ionomeric nanofibers.

Dr. Ing. Lyubomir Soserov has been working in the field of supercapacitors (EDLCs, pseudocapacitors, and hybrid systems) for over ten years. His current research activities include the development, synthesis, and design of advanced electrode materials for various energy storage devices, as well as research on solid-state electrolytes (SSEs) and Zn-Ni secondary batteries.
