Abstract: The sequential [2+2]/[2+1] and [2+2+1]/[2+1] multicomponent reactions that occur thermally when treating alkoxy alkynyl Fischer carbene complexes with 2,3-dihydrofuran or norbornene may be accelerated by MW irradiation. They lead to the same adducts in similar yields and diastereoselectivities and, therefore, MW irradiation does not cause a different chemical behaviour but just an accelerating effect.
