Abstract

This paper introduces a ground-breaking approach to Field-Oriented Control (FOC), tailored specifically to Electric Vehicles (EVs) that are equipped with an electrical differential system, eliminating the need for conventional differential gears. In this configuration, each EV is fitted with two Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs), dedicated to powering individual tires, thereby enabling autonomous torque and speed control at each wheel and significantly enhancing safety and stability on the road.

The proposed system ideally utilizes onboard sensors, such as wheel speed sensors or dedicated speed sensors, to measure the vehicle's speed. These data are, crucially, fed into the control system, serving as a pivotal input parameter for dynamically adjusting the torque and speed for each wheel, thereby improving traction and stability during various driving maneuvers.

The primary focus of this study revolves around enhancing the driving experience in general, with a particular emphasis on improving safety and stability, especially during maneuvers and at high speeds. While constraints limit the immediate implementation of onboard sensors, the proposed traction control system still represents a significant advancement in electric mobility. Through meticulous simulations, the system's feasibility is thoroughly evaluated, demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing wheel slip and ensuring a smoother and safer driving experience for both the driver and passengers. This solution marks a pivotal step toward the advancement of electric propulsion systems, reinforcing their viability in modern transportation landscapes.
