Archeological landscapes are the outcome of a dynamic, variable, and time-dependent interaction among physical, ecological, and cultural factors within an ecosystemic and causality-oriented structure. Over time, the bidirectional discourse between humans and nature and the complexity of their relationships have led to the creation of novel landscapes. These landscapes have bestowed identity and authenticity upon present-day human societies in settlements serving as a substrate of Archeological landscapes. The product of this continuous discourse is archaeological sites such as the Takht-e Soleyman World Heritage site in West Azerbaijan Province located in northwestern Iran. This archaeological site contains valuable cultural legacies of past societies within the environmental and tectonic geography of the surrounding region. In this study, the geomorphological and ecological structure of the region and its interaction with human-cultural elements over the past centuries have been extensively investigated. The studies were conducted using satellite data processing and thematic image analysis combined with environmental interpretations and other historical and archaeological documents. The aims of this study were to benefit from remote sensing technology in analyzing the relationships between archaeogeology and humans, and to formulate a conceptual model for comprehensive environmental conservation in the ancient landscape of Takht-e Soleyman for sustainable future management strategies
