Background: Job satisfaction is a key determinant of professional performance, well-being, and retention among healthcare providers, including pediatric dentists. Despite the unique challenges associated with pediatric dental practice, there is limited evidence regarding the job satisfaction levels of pediatric dentists in India.
Aim: To assess the level of job satisfaction among pediatric dentists in Andhra Pradesh and evaluate the influence of demographic and professional factors on job satisfaction.
Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire-based study was conducted among pediatric dentists in Andhra Pradesh during September 2025. A validated eight-item questionnaire encompassing four domains—financial satisfaction, self-fulfillment, professional relationships, and stress—was distributed through online platforms. Responses were recorded using a 5-point Likert scale and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods.
Results: Of the 184 pediatric dentists invited to participate, 146 completed the survey, yielding a response rate of 76.83%. Higher levels of job satisfaction were observed among female participants, dentists aged 40 years or younger, those practicing in urban areas, consultants, and government-employed professionals. Statistically significant differences were identified in the domains of income, professional recognition, and work-related fatigue across various demographic and professional subgroups (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: Job satisfaction among pediatric dentists in Andhra Pradesh is significantly influenced by factors such as gender, age, employment type, and practice location. Strategies aimed at improving workplace support, professional recognition, and work-life balance may contribute to enhanced job satisfaction, professional well-being, and quality of pediatric dental care.
