Abstract

Conventional Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) leakage detection systems primarily employ individual gas sensors and user-dependent warning mechanisms, which may be insufficient for reliable detection under varying environmental conditions. These limitations can lead to false alarms, delayed emergency responses, and failure to provide immediate control of the gas supply. This research proposes a robotic LPG safety system designed to address these limitations through multi-parameter sensing, mobile monitoring, and automated emergency response. The proposed system integrates gas, flame, temperature, and pressure sensors instead of relying on a single sensing element. Sensor readings are continuously analyzed using predefined threshold conditions to identify abnormal and hazardous operating states. The robotic platform allows the sensing unit to move across multiple locations, extending monitoring coverage and improving flexibility. When a hazardous condition is detected, the system automatically activates a relay-controlled solenoid valve to interrupt the LPG supply. A local buzzer simultaneously provides an immediate audible warning. A GSM module transmits SMS notifications directly to the authorized user without requiring continuous internet connectivity. Experimental evaluation was conducted under normal and controlled LPG leakage conditions to assess detection and response performance. The proposed multi-sensor system achieved a detection accuracy of 90% in identifying operating conditions. The results indicate that combining environmental sensors with mobile robotic monitoring, GSM-based communication, and automatic gas shut-off can improve reliability and response capability compared with conventional single-sensor approaches. The key contribution is the integration of multi-parameter environmental monitoring, threshold-based hazard identification, spatially flexible robotic sensing, and autonomous emergency response within a low-cost embedded framework. The proposed system offers a scalable solution for LPG safety monitoring in domestic and industrial environments, supporting timely detection, immediate mitigation, and enhanced protection of human life and property.
