Abstract

The presence of pharmaceutical and compounds in aquatic environments has become an emerging environmental concern due to their potential ecological impacts and persistence in water systems. Thiamine widely used in pharmaceutical and nutritional applications, may enter water systems through industrial effluents, domestic wastewater, and improper disposal practices. The accumulation of such compounds in aquatic environments can affect water quality and may pose risks to aquatic ecosystems. Therefore, the development of efficient and sustainable treatment methods for thiamine removal from water has become an important research objective. In this study , a graphene oxide/MOF-235 composite was synthesized as a adsorbent for the removal of Thiamine from aqueous solutions. The composite was characterized by FTIR, BET, XRD, TGA and SEM/EDS to verify interfacial interactions and porous morphology. Batch adsorption experiments were performed to evaluate the effects of initial concentration , contact time , pH , adsorbent dosage and temperature. The experimental results demonstrated that the composite exhibited enhanced adsorption capacity toward thiamine due to the synergistic effect of the porous structure of MOF-235 and the high surface area of graphene oxide. Furthermore, the adsorption behavior was evaluated through kinetic and isotherm models to determine the dominant adsorption mechanism .Overall, the graphene oxide/MOF-235 composite has significant potential as an effective and promising adsorbent for Thiamine removal from water.
