Abstract

In the last 25 years the rapid progress of implants has been possible only through collaboration between surgeons, biologists and engineers. Thus, an important obstacle was the perfect knowledge of the human body surrounding the implant, as well as the biomechanical properties of the musculoskeletal system and the kinematics of the joint. The orthopedic implant market is driven by innovation. Thus, product innovation through extensive research and development, procurement and collaboration are some of the strategies implemented by large companie o expand their market share. As a result of the improvement of the specific characteristics of the biomedical field, in which there is a high demand for innovative materials with high mechanical and anticorrosive performance, six alloys from the Ti-Mo-Si system were developed. The alloys thus obtained have improved properties compared to classic on the market and with a major impact on the patient recovery period.
