Abstract:
Use of patent information to characterize innovation and trends lead to various recommendations and may help one to plan and innovate a research strategy. This research concerns the worldwide patent applications on biopolymers used in agriculture filed under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) global system. This study, in particular, gives a patentability analysis of biopolymers utilized in agriculture by introducing what has been invented and patented. In compliance with patent analysis criteria, it is established as a research planning tool. Furthermore, a detailed analysis is provided regarding publication years, applicants, jurisdictions, and patent classifications by using the Patentscope database.

Dear authors thank you for your support to the conference.
Now we closed the publication phase and launched the post-publication phase of the conference. REVIEWWWERS'08 Brainstorming Workshop is Now Open from 2023-Jan-01 to 2023-Jan-31. MOL2NET Committee, Authors, and Validated Social Media Followers Worldwide are ... Invited to Post Moderated Questions/Answers, Comments, about papers. Please kindly post your public Answers (A) to the following questions in order to promote interchange of scientific ideas. These are my Questions (Q) to you:
Q1. What do you think has been the reason for the increase in the number of patents in recent years?
Q2. What could be one of the biggest barriers to obtaining a patent in science?

Dear Estefania,
Thank you for your helpful questions.
Q1. What do you think has been the reason for the increase in the number of patents in recent years?
A1. Effectively, as mentioned in the paper, 30% of total patents have been published in the last five years regarding biopolymers for agriculture.
This is due to the increase in demand for biopolymers in recent years following their abundance, renewability, non-toxicity, biodegradability, and biological properties. Other advantages that biopolymers offer to agriculture are their water-uptake and swelling properties. All of this has assisted researchers in this field in substituting synthetic polymers, which previously posed a significant problem for the environment in general and agriculture in particular. Their main disadvantage is the use of hazardous organic solvents for chemical preparation. Furthermore, the non-biodegradability of these synthetic polymers could generate synthetic residues in the field as well as toxic by-products.
Q2. What could be one of the biggest barriers to obtaining a patent in science?
A1. The patent system accelerates technological development by rewarding the intellectual creativity of the inventor and, at the same time, facilitating the spread of new technological knowledge to the public. Indeed, there are no barriers to obtaining a patent in science. To qualify for patent protection, a claimed invention must be a patentable subject matter. However, to be patentable, an invention must meet 3 specific criteria. It must be (1) new or novel; (2) involve an inventive step; and (3) industrially applicable or useful.
