Lensless hyperspectral phase retrieval via alternating direction method of multipliers and spectral proximity operators.

Abstract:

We propose a hyperspectral broadband phase retrieval technique with spectrally varying object and modulation phase masks. The technique is based on a complex domain version of the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) and the Spectral Proximity Operators derived for Gaussian and Poisson intensity observations, which are considered as a sum of separate spectral diffractive patterns. The proximity operators filter noisy observations compromising between noisy intensity observations and their predicted counterparts and retrieve the complex-domain spectral components of the object from these filtered observations. The simulation and physical tests confirm that the broadband hyperspectral phase retrieval in the proposed formulation is resolved.

For the case where both the object and modulator phase masks are spectrally changing, a unique formulation of hyperspectral broadband phase retrieval is devised. The suggested approach is based on a complex domain version of the ADMM and SPO developed for Gaussian and Poissonian observations. These operators' computations are reduced to solving sets of cubic (for Gaussian) and quadratic (for Poissonian) algebraic equations.

When the phase masks of the object and the modulator are both dynamic in terms of frequency, a novel formulation of hyperspectral broadband phase retrieval is developed. The proposed method utilizes extensions of the ADMM and SPO designed for Gaussian and Poissonian data, respectively, but implemented in the complex domain. word wipe

What field would you say this could be used as practical or even commercial use? I.e maybe optics/simulations? Would think it can be used in leisure sphere, maybe hunting/nature observation(Know a few folks that do a lot of bird watching and outfitting, as well as having stuff like AR15 for sale and gunsmithing/optics installation).
