Abstract:

The hospitality industry is increasingly focusing on environmental responsibility and cost savings, so adopting sustainable energy practices is paramount. This article investigates sustainable energy systems tailored for hotel buildings, exploring infrastructure improvements and potential interventions to enhance energy efficiency. This paper synthesizes existing literature, industry reports, and case studies to provide insights into effective strategies for implementing energy-efficient solutions in hotel infrastructures. The paper examines hotel buildings' current energy consumption patterns and the environmental impacts of traditional energy sources. It then delves into various sustainable energy systems applicable to hotel settings, including solar photovoltaic panels, geothermal heating and cooling systems, energy-efficient lighting, and smart building management systems. Case studies showcasing successful implementations of these technologies in hotel properties highlight their potential in reducing energy costs and carbon footprints while enhancing guest satisfaction. The current study identifies key interventions and best practices for integrating sustainable energy systems into hotel buildings. These interventions encompass technological upgrades and behavioral changes, such as energy audits, employee training programs, and guest engagement initiatives. This paper discusses the importance of stakeholder collaboration, regulatory compliance, and financial incentives in driving the adoption of sustainable energy solutions within the hospitality sector. The challenges and barriers hindering the widespread implementation of energy-efficient systems in hotel buildings, including upfront costs, technical complexities, and cultural resistance to change, are also discussed. Strategies for overcoming these obstacles, such as leveraging financing options, conducting feasibility studies, and fostering a culture of sustainability within hotel management and staff, are also proposed. This study emphasizes the urgent need for sustainable energy interventions in hotel buildings to mitigate environmental impacts, reduce operating expenses, and enhance long-term competitiveness. By implementing energy-efficient systems and fostering a culture of sustainability, hotels can achieve cost savings and contribute to global efforts toward a more sustainable future.
