Abstract: According to the toxin hypothesis, reactive chemical compounds (e.g. alkanes, carbolines, cyanides, isoquinolines, heavy metals, pesticides) arising from environmental pollution or drug abuse are discussed to be causative factors for the induction of neurodegenerative processes, e.g. Parkinson's disease.
