Discussion and Q&A

Welcome from the Chairs

Welcome from the Conference Chairs of the 3rd International Electronic Conference on Applied Sciences

We are pleased to announce the 3rd International Electronic Conference on Applied Sciences. This international conference, supported by the journal Applied Sciences, unites scientists from different areas to discuss important recent developments in a number of fields. It represents an opportunity to gather an interdisciplinary community to discuss applied sciences. More specifically, after the success of the first two editions, this year’s edition will focus on eleven thematic areas of applied nature sciences:

Posters can be presented without an accompanying proceedings paper and will be available on this website during and after the e-conference.

Participants will have the opportunity to examine, explore and critically engage with issues and advances in these areas. We hope to facilitate discussions and exchange within the community.

A student competition will also be held online for selected students' contributions (students as correspondences). These will be exhibited in the Student Session. For more details, please click the following link: https://sciforum.net/event/ASEC2022#awards.

This event will take place entirely online, allowing participation from all over the world with no concerns regarding travel and related expenditures. An electronic conference provides a platform for rapid and direct exchanges about the latest research findings and novel ideas. Participation, as well as the "attendance" of this online conference, is free of charge.

The 3rd International Electronic Conference on Applied Sciences is sponsored by MDPI and the scientific journal Applied Sciences. The conference proceedings papers and presentations will be available on https://sciforum.net/event/ASEC2022 for discussion during 1–15 December 2022 and will be published in the journal Engineering Proceedings.

Extended and expanded versions of conference proceedings papers can be submitted to a Special Issue Selected Papers from the 3rd International Electronic Conference on Applied Sciences in the journal Applied Sciences after the conference, with a 20% discount on the Article Processing Charges.

Applied Sciences is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal on all aspects of applied natural sciences. It is published semimonthly online by MDPI.

We hope the community will share our enthusiasm and help to make this 3rd edition a success, and that there will be many more conferences in the future.

Plasmon-induced nanochemistry for sensor applications
Bio
Olivier Soppera is CNRS Research Director (DR1) at the Institute of Materials Science of Mulhouse (CNRS UMR 7361, Université de Haute-Alsace). He leads a research team at IS2M in the field of the development of micro and nanostructuring processes of functional materials by photochemical methods. This approach consists in using light to build and shape matter, in 2D/3D, by integrating functional materials. The approach is multi-scale (from single molecule reactions in near-field photochemistry to the fabrication of macroscopic objects in 3D printing), multi-material (polymer, hybrid, inorganic sol-gel, metallic nanoparticles). This research topic is by essence strongly interdisciplinary between (photo)chemistry, physical chemistry and physics (optics, photonics, electronics) and corresponds to an original positioning in growing field of light-matter interaction. He (co)authored 151 publications in international journals, 7 patents, gave 122 talks in conferences (25 invited talks). He received the CNRS Bronze medal in 2009.

  6. The open access journal Applied Sciences will publish a Special Issue (Selected Papers from the 3rd International Electronic Conference on Applied Sciences) of the conference and accepted papers will be published in the proceedings of the conference itself. After the conference, the Conference Committee will select manuscripts that may be included for publication in the Special Issue of the journal Applied Sciences (the submission to the journal is independent from the conference proceedings and will follow the usual process of the journal, including peer-review, APC, etc.).

Proceedings Paper

Proceedings papers must be prepared in MS Word using the Proceedings template (see below) and should be converted to PDF format before submission. The manuscript should count at least 3 pages (incl. figures, tables and references) and should not exceed 6 pages. Carefully read the rules outlined in the 'Instructions for Authors' on the journal website and ensure that your manuscript submission adheres to these guidelines.

Manuscripts for the proceedings issue must have the following organization:

First page:

  • Title
  • Full author names
  • Affiliations (including full postal address) and authors' e-mail addresses
  • Abstract (200–250 words)
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Methods
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusions
  • (Acknowledgements)
  • References

Authors are encouraged to prepare a presentation in PowerPoint or similar software, to be displayed online along with the Manuscript. Slides, if available, will be displayed directly in the website using Sciforum.net's proprietary slides viewer. Slides can be prepared in exactly the same way as for any traditional conference where research results can be presented. Slides should be converted to the PDF format before submission so that our process can easily and automatically convert them for online displaying.

Video Presentations

Authors are also encouraged to submit video presentations. This is an unique way of presenting your paper and discussing it with peers from all over the world. Video should be no longer than 3-5 minutes and prepared with one of the following formats: .mp4 / .webm / .ogg (max size: 250Mb). It should be submitted with the full manuscript before 13 October 2022.

Submission of Manuscripts

Submission: Manuscripts should be submitted online at https://sciforum.net/conference/ASEC2022 by registering and logging in to this website.

Accepted File Formats

  • MS Word: Manuscript prepared in MS Word must be converted into a single file before submission. When preparing manuscripts in MS Word, the 3rd International Electronic Conference on Applied Sciences Microsoft Word template file (see download below) must be used. Please do not insert any graphics (schemes, figures, etc.) into a movable frame which can superimpose the text and make layout very difficult.
  • LaTeX: Manuscripts prepared in LaTeX must be collated into one ZIP folder (include all source files and images so that the Conference Secretariat can recompile the submitted PDF). When preparing manuscripts in LaTeX, please use the 3rd International Electronic Conference on Applied Sciences LaTeX template files.

Posters

Posters will be available on this conference website during and after the event. Like papers presented on the conference, participants will be able to ask questions and make comments about the posters. Posters can be presented without an accompanying proceedings paper.

Potential Conflicts of Interest

It is the authors’ responsibility to identify and declare any personal circumstances or interests that may be perceived as inappropriately influencing the representation or interpretation of clinical research. If there is no conflict, please state here “The authors declare no conflict of interest”. This should be conveyed in a separate “Conflict of Interest” statement preceding the “Acknowledgments” and “References” sections at the end of the manuscript. Financial support for the study must be fully disclosed under the “Acknowledgments” section.

Copyright

MDPI, the publisher of the Sciforum.net platform, is an open access publisher. We believe that authors should retain the copyright to their scholarly works. Hence, by submitting a Communication paper to this conference, you retain the copyright of your paper, but you grant MDPI the non-exclusive right to publish this paper online on the Sciforum.net platform. This means you can easily submit your paper to any scientific journal at a later stage and transfer the copyright to its publisher (if required by that publisher).
